our History

Schenectady House of Prayer is a mission church in the heart of the community with a heart for its' community.

Our ministry began in September of 2021 with 6 members and all the praise, honor, and glory goes to God as we remain faithful and dedicated to the work of the Lord and the growth of this ministry.  To date we are 16 in number, with 7 other potentials and several candidates for baptism.  All are welcomed from all over the Capital District area to worship and receive the word on Sunday mornings.  However, our heart's focus is towards the unchurched the Mont Pleasant community.

Our Genesis was a very challenging one as many tried to douse the fire that was ignited by the Lord Jesus Christ. Many people expected us to fail, but the Lord was and is with us; from slander to sabotage to evil expressions, but with the prayers and encouragement of our faithful attendees, close friends, family, and Regional Overseer our ministry stood its ground and have remain constant.  Our determination is to raise the standard and level of worship to God while staying dedicated to our Christian responsibilities.

Our church is situated in a very strategic location and in an effort to reach out to our community we hope to initiate a lot of programs and activities geared towards reaching the lost, the poor, and the needy.  We wish to develop the spiritual lives of people to become better and not bitter.

We are currently working on the establishment of the Electric City Youth Choir ECYC that would facilitate vocal skills and composing development for young people and those who would show interest in learning or enhancing their musical ability.   ECYC is a community-based choir that is currently in the infancy stage and is welcoming partnership in this project.  We welcome any assistance or contribution one would like to offer to bring us out of the infancy stage.  You can contact Lady Johnson via our office number 518-280-1923 if you are interested in participating or building.

This community choir will be used to facilitate skill development and training for young people in an effort to navigate them away from idleness, crime, gang activities, and godlessness. We are very much aware of both our spiritual and social responsibilities, therefore, this choir will engage their talents and abilities in various areas.  As a ministry we want to be tangible, reachable and a template for the next generation in our community as we represent the kingdom of God upon the face of the earth.

Thank you for networking with us in prayer and continuous support as together we build the kingdom of God.
